Designed for the Black & Bougie exhibit at Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, I wanted to create a ‘love letter’ to those committed to an understated self-care practice: braids & nails. By highlighting the elegance, opulence, and sophistication inherent in Black culture, I portrayed an emotion and energy without even showing facial features.
